Carmen baugh, director

My name is Carmen Baugh. My husband Russ and I have three children. Our daughter Courtney is an Associate Professor at University of Houston. She and her husband Zach live in Spring, Texas and have a daughter Zephyr, born in Sept. 2023. Our son James is in a doctorate program at University of Illinois. He and his wife Katrina live in Wheaton, Illinois. James and Katrina also run a nonprofit organization called Radical Hospitality Ministries which is dedicated to assisting formerly incarcerated individuals. Our daughter Sally, is a teacher at Sequoia Christian Preschool and is also my assistant director.

I have worked in the preschool field for 25 years. I am incredibly blessed to be able to work at SCP, a ministry of Sequoia Church, where I have been a member since 1984. My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Sally Baugh

Hi, I’m Sally Baugh. I teach the three-year-old class here at Sequoia Christian Preschool. I graduated from Ripon Christian in 2013. I went to MJC to become a preschool teacher, and finished that qualification in 2015. I have volunteered and worked in preschools since 2006.

I have been attending Sequoia Church since I was born in 1995. I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 7.

My favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Heidi Darling

My name is Heidi Darling and I am blessed with a sweet husband, two boys, a step daughter and two grandchildren. I was raised in the little Sierra Nevada foothill town of Murphy’s. My hobbies include railroading, motorcycle riding, travel and art. I believe that kids need plenty of hands on experiences, lots of music and lots of pretend play in order to learn about the world around them. Also, I love to sing songs with the children and teach them about our loving Savior Jesus Christ.

I received my Associates in Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2008. I have been one of the pre-K teachers at Sequoia Christian since August of 2018.

My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Jessica Lima

Hi, my name is Jessica Lima. I am a preschool teacher at Sequoia Christian Preschool. I have a personal relationship with Jesus. I have attended Calvary Chapel in Modesto since 2013, where I have served in children’s ministries becoming a member. I have worked with children of all different age groups. I firmly believe in the verse that states: “All children are a gift from God.” I am married and have 4 children. My favorite color is purple. I love camping and going to the beach. My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart. I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Lori Sherman

My name is Lori Sherman, I have been married to my husband Kevin for 23 years. He is a Special Ed High School Teacher in Lodi. I have worked in the preschool field for 40 years, as a teacher, mentor teacher, and director. I attended Ohlone College and Modesto Jr College. I am so excited to be a part of Sequoia Christian Preschool.

I love to teach children about Jesus and how much He loves them and made them just the way they are! I asked Jesus in my heart at 5 yrs. old and He has never left my side. We attend Thrive Church in Lathrop. We have 45 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that we get to love and spoil. My hobbies include Card making, scrap-booking, and antiquing. My favorite verse is Lamentations 3:22-23 "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end: they are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness".

Cheyenne Watson

Hello! I started working here through the CTE program at Sierra High School during my senior year. I graduated May of 2025 from Sierra High and started full-time with Sequoia Christian Preschool right after graduation. I truly enjoy being a part of this community and I love my job! I am looking forward to supporting our students and working together with the staff. I plan to continue my schooling in Early Childhood Education.

Sharayah Whitehouse

Hello! My name is Sharayah Whitehouse. I am one of the PreK teachers here at Sequoia Christian Preschool. This will be my 4th year working at SCP. I have always loved working with children ever since I could babysit at 12 years old. I have worked in the nursery at church since high school. I was a nanny in college and I have been a preschool teacher since 2015. I attended Modesto Junior College. I have been married to my husband Kevin since 2011 and we have two children, Philip and Rebecca. I love coffee, Disney and cats! I love being able to share the love of Christ with the children at school. Together we learn, play and grow. My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” God is always with us no matter what!
